Why online learning is the new norm.
Convenience, flexibility, and the ability to make a living while completing a degree – for all of these reasons and more, online learning has become the new norm.
According to the National Center for Education Statistics, one in four people took at least one online course in the fall of 2012. In 2019, it’s estimated that roughly half of all college classes will be eLearning-based.
For working adults, online learning provides easy access to advanced career preparation. In fact, roughly 75% of online students seek further education to change careers, get a job, earn a promotion or keep up to date with their skills. (Aslanian Market Research 2015.)
The choice of online progams comes down to cost and reputation.
The most important factors when selecting an online degree program? Cost and university reputation. In fact, cost (both time and money) was weighed almost as heavily as the perceived reputation and quality of the institution in the 2015 report.
The popularity of online courses is not reserved for universities.
Corporations are now reporting that online learning is the second most valuable training method that they use, (next to face-to-face, on-the-job training). This is important because research shows that nearly 25% of all employees leave their job because they feel there isn’t enough training opportunities. Online learning is changing all of this. In fact, the online corporate market is expected to grow by 13% per year up to 2017.
