A day in the life of a nurse practitioner

Nurse practitioners work with physicians, and in some states operate their own clinics. In this position, you will serve as a primary specialty health care provider. Here ‘s what a day in the life of a nurse practitioner looks like:

  • Review medical records
  • Meet with patients
  • Perform physical exams
  • Order diagnostic testing and view results to make an official diagnosis
  • Call patients with test results
  • Prescribe medication
  • Provide patient education
  • Give immunizations
  • Perform minor surgeries
  • Document patient calls
  • Write reports
  • Maintaining patient records

To be successful in the day-to-day responsibilities of a nurse practitioner position, you’ll need a MSN/NP degree.
